The restaurant is located in the heart of Sorrento’s historical centre. Just 2 minutes away from the main square “ Piazza Tasso ”. The Piazza is quite a resent construction; built in 1901, it now provides easy access to the once fortified old town of Sorrento. A bridge used to stretch over the natural “ Vallone dei Mulini ” ( Windmill canyon ) connecting Sorrento to the “rest of the world”, otherwise only accessible by sea. Over the bridge, under the clock tower, where now “ Il Circolo Sorrentino ” resides (Card Club), is “ Il Sedile di Porta ”, the main door to the old town. Today’s “ Vicolo S.Cesareo ”, now full of shops and tourist attractions, used to be the main road of Sorrento. If you follow it you get to “ Piazza Sedile Dominova ”, the ancient main square, where on your left you can see what looks a bit like a Mosque, with frescos inside. This building, along with other ones, especially along the Amalfi coast, denotes the presence in the past of Middle Eastern populations in the area; ( Saraceni ) hence the dark skin of the southerners.
